Thursday is the Ain’t it Black 1st birthday party at Favela chic.

It’s gonna be a monster session. A celebration of an amazing year of finding new music and making new friends.  There’s live music from Olivier DaySoul and the usual cut price/fully loaded, high fiving deejays.

Come down, if you’re local. Rumours abound of some crazy-assed fancy dress costumes (”just call me snake”) and what with the usual insane dancefloor antics and the friendliest crowd in the east there’s sure to be a lot of love in the room.

It’s Ain’t it Black tonight at the vibey (but ever sketchy) Favela chic, Great Eastern St.

Expect the usual synth heavy 80s funk and electro selection from 7oel, Food Soundsystem and me and christophe.

I’m in a ‘wishing I was still on holiday’ kind of mood so just as well I’m on early (thinking a moody-downbeat-electro set could be in order)

It’s always a killer session and with a live set from Jason Jermaine this could be the one that takes it next level.

Sometimes we take a track and really funk it up, this is just case of cutting out the chaff. It’s obviously a classic funk track, but does it really need 2 and half minutes of guitar solo?

I thought not.

So basilka is back tonight (again), but this time we mean it.

We keeping it a little bit lowkey as there have been loads of date changing/ refurb bullshit going on. When it’s all sorted we will get the publicity rocking. There’s been lots of talk amongst the guys about what tunes we’re all playing-I’m keeping it as exclusive as possible (which means all the tracks I’ll be playing will be almost inaudible and I’ll be desperately trying to eq them whlist simultaneously high-fiving anyone in the vicinity)-it’s gonna be a good night !

Jez (brubekk) is caught in dubbed-out disco/retro rock quandry (we’ve all been there) and Ian (the illiod) is keepin his options open (he’s probably wondering how the hell he’s going to follow a 16 minute Jean-Michel-Jarre track.

Anyway should be a good night (for us anyway) -I’ll put up a post-mortem next week.

over the long dark winter mister brubeq (or brubekk as I’ve renamed him my top ten favourite tunes here ) has been busy learning the art of the re-edit putting together a lovely 5 track cdr that I’ve been kaning whenever I play.
