Northern Exposure - Illa hits Basilika this Saturday 3rd, Y’heard

Whilst Jacque Soul’s playing with his boules on the continent, it’s down to me to spread the word about the Basilika bash this coming Saturday 3rd.

Basilika’s pride of the dales, Monsieur ILLA will be holding court alongside Basilika’s shame of Shoreditch, Jak Soul. Expect fresh ta death exclusive pressure from our man in the north, and less than fresh, overplayed ‘classics’ from our lady in red.

Last Friday’s Basilika sesh proved to be a hell of a tester. Our chief adversary was fatigue, closely followed by messers rum and coke. To be honest, it wasn’t until later on in the evening that we really pulled it together and began thinking outside the box. (Sigh. Insert box joke here).

A three-and-on, ‘double header’ strategy was employed, calling for quick thinking and even quicker rummaging. It made for a much more diverse and honest interpretation of what the Basilika sound is all about, and got nuff heads nodding and feet tapping. I felt pleased as punch to hear Common’s heartfelt classic ‘Sixth Sense’ played in close proximity to Byron Lee & The Dragonaires interpretation of ‘Live and let die’, as did several others in the crowd who gave us ‘props like a cop’.

So then - spinning this Saturday from 6.00pm ‘true till 2′, 1 x Northerner, pasty but good, 1 x Southerner, bronzed but confused.

Enjoy.
