Good Friday

Me and Illa caused disco mayhem at elbow rooms, saturday-even a stone cold sober (!!!) eddie couldn’t help getting into it.  The place filled up nicely and as soon as ‘the northern one’ had opened up the secret compartment of his record bag marked ‘WARNING CLASSICS-Do not break seal unless djing at mum’s wedding’-the crowd became putty in our ‘Mobile Disco’ style hands.

The lesson of the night being Billie Jean is still Billie Jean even if the version your playing is a ‘unreleased japanese bootleg’ where half the vocals sound really muffled.

Tune of the night for me was the disco version of Superstition on P&P, which illa dropped, and despite on paper sounding like a truly horrible idea, is in fact a complete killer.

Despite feeling a tad sleepy after excessive pie eating this lunchtime, the vibe here at basilika towers is humming. Gradually the festive slump is being replaced with new music, new plans and new gigs; Trantom warrior has a new mix which we will post up next week, illa’s off to new yurk shiddy for some blaggy networking/record shopping/spending some quality time with the missus, the new firemusic site is almost done (no really),both basilika alumni brubekk and basilika pal Ruby (aka Noisy Bunch) have tracks forthcoming on GAMM-it’s all kicking off.

Talking of GAMM, at one point there was talk (from me) of a possible jaksoul/brubekk ‘earthshaker’ remix project-didn’t really happen, deadlines/flu/lack of talent being the three major stumbling blocks.  I thought I would post it up anyway though, cause ultimately it’s not about how good the music is, it’s about how rare and exclusive it is.

So check it out, but please remember it was a very early mix/ I was drunk/ the dog ate it etc..

Peace out

Jaksoul
