MORE Five 4 Oh Five

Greetings to you all*, I hope you had a super duper Christmas. Righto, down to business. Five tracks that knocked me over this year eh?…nigh on impossible. I’ll have a go though.

1: Noisy Bunch - ‘Disco Request’. I’ve been banging on about this all year, and it seems only right that this should get a mention in my top five. This Always, ALWAYS delivers something special to the dancefloor, and anything that can still make me lose all bladder control behind the decks has got to be a winner (anything? hmmm). If it was a school sportsday event, this tune would be the Mum’s egg and spoon race.

2: The Goodbye Plot - ‘All kinds of everything’. I’ve never played this out, this is one purely for me I think. They released a cracking EP this year entitled ‘A Night’s Darkness and a Day’s Drive’, from which this track is from. Gorgeous in it’s entirety, I wish these chaps all the success in the world for next year. If it was a type of wallpaper, it would be flock. In a deep way. Errr.

3: Anything by Greg Wilson. Almost.   -  I’d never even heard of this chap last year, but all through ‘05 I couldn’t seem to escape his re-edit action. Possibly more a testiment to my hugely pot-holed knowledge of DJ history, or demonstration that I need to stop spending so much money at certain Manc based record stores. Jak’s already talked up a certain CDT edit involving Carl Craig, so nuff said. I love it too.

4: Willy Mason - ‘Fear no Pain’. For a hundred reasons, this tune has meant a lot to me this year. If it was a festive treat it would be a still-warm toffee apple.

5: Larry McGee Revolution - ‘The Burg’ (Fat Camp Re-Edit). Shuffling, lackaday baseline that puts a smile on every face, every time. Oddly, the bonus beat on this makes me want to bite the record in half. If it was an item of morning mail, it would be an invite to an old friend’s party.

Wishing you fantastical things for 2006, C 2the T.

*All? Ideas above my station there I think…..
